Adding to their losses, another running back is on the move — TC Caffey has officially entered the transfer portal, according to On3.

Caffey, who joined the Buckeyes as a walk-on in 2022, made a brief but memorable impact as a freshman, recording 66 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries — including a 49-yard score in his first appearance.

Unfortunately, his career in Columbus was plagued by injuries. A torn ACL in his first year sidelined him for the 2023 season, and another serious knee injury last summer ended his hopes of returning in 2024.

Head coach Ryan Day had expressed intentions to involve Caffey in the offense this year, but the second injury ultimately prevented that. With Caffey out of the picture, the Buckeyes appear set to move forward with James Peoples and CJ Donaldson as their main backs, while Bo Jackson and Sam Williams-Dixon may also see the field.

With two years of eligibility left, Caffey is now looking for a fresh start — though it might not come with a Power Five program. The Hubbard, Ohio native becomes the fourth Ohio State walk-on to enter the transfer portal following spring practices. Hopefully, he finds success and a clean bill of health at his next stop.
