The defeat marked just LSU’s second loss at home all season — and their first in SEC play at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers are now 25-2 on their home turf, with an 8-1 record in conference matchups in Baton Rouge.

Adams did a great job out there, especially when we had runners on,” said LSU head coach Jay Johnson. “We didn’t step up with the quality at-bats we needed in the key moments. In this league, you’ve got to show up with the right mindset every single day — that’s the challenge in front of us now.”

Adams (5-2) turned in a strong outing, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings, while issuing three walks and striking out three. Alabama closer Carson Ozmer finished the job, tossing the final two innings to notch his 13th save of the season. He surrendered just one run on one hit, walked one, and fanned five. LSU starter Conner Ware (4-1) took the loss, giving up one run on three hits in two innings, with a walk and a strikeout.

LSU cut  early lead in the bottom of the third when first baseman Jared Jones crushed a solo home run — his 13th of the season — making it 3-1.

The Crimson Tide responded with single runs in the fourth and fifth, extending their lead to 5-1. But LSU kept fighting. Pinch hitter Jake Brown stepped up and launched a two-run homer — just his second of the year — trimming the deficit to 5-3.

Alabama added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth, putting pressure on the Tigers heading into their final at-bat. LSU showed signs of life when Josh Pearson led off with a walk and Brown followed with an RBI triple, but the rally fell short. Ozmer slammed the door, retiring the next three batters to seal the win for the Tide.
