SALE 6 months for $1.99  College Football Fans Are Talking About Arch Manning After the SEC’s Recent Announcement By Kevin Matthew Borba Athlon Sports Updated December 12, 2024 7:35 AM The 2024 college football season is far from over, yet fans can’t help but look ahead to the 2025 season. On Wednesday, the SEC announced the conference schedules for its 16 members, which means those programs finally got clarity on their schedules for next season. One fanbase that was particularly excited to look ahead was fans of the Texas Longhorns. While the No. 5 seed in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff has a legitimate shot at a title, with FanDuel giving them and No. 1 Oregon the best odds (+360) to be the last team standing, fans couldn’t help but be excited about 2025. Regardless of what happens this season, starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to declare for the NFL draft. When he does, it will officially mean it is Arch Manning’s team, which fans were giddy just thinking about when Texas’ schedule was released. However, what many may not have realized prior to Wednesday was that the Manning era will begin in one of the most hostile environments in college football, as Texas opens the season at Ohio State. Something that had fans even more eager. “The Arch Manning Era will start at Ohio State..Legacy game,” wrote one user. “Would love to see Arch Manning plant the flag at The Shoe,” joked another.

Arch Manning better be ready because he’s gonna be thrown into the grinder,” commented one user. “it’s only right,” added another. Manning did accumulate a couple of starts under his belt this season while Ewers was out with an oblique injury, but both games were at home. So, his starting in front of a crowd of over 100,00 fans, with most of them rooting against him, will certainly be quite the beginning of an era.

It gives him and Texas a chance to make an immediate statement on the year, and have an early case for being the No. 1 team in the country. As for the history between the two powerhouses, surprisingly, they have only crossed paths three times. Texas leads the all-time series 2-1, with the most recent showdown between the two being the 2008 Fiesta Bowl. However, there is a chance that the two teams play this season if they both win two playoff games, and advance to the semifinal. Before fans get too excited about 2025, it only feels fair to really focus on this season. It’s hard not to imagine that chaos is coming, it’s more so a matter of when rather than if.
