Bronny James’ professional basketball career has been as uneven as it comes thus far.
The USC product is never in one place for too long; some nights, he’s sporting the Lakers’ big-league jersey. On others, he’s draped in South Bay’s attire.
The 20-year old guard has struggled mightily across both levels thus far. With Los Angeles’ G League affiliate set to return to the friendly confines of UCLA Health Training Center on Sunday, James could very well find himself back in the minors.
James shows flashes of intrigue on the defensive end of the ball. But his lack of fluidity as a ball-handler is all the more glaring when sharing the backcourt with Quincy Olivari, Jalen Hood-Schifino and Marlain Veal, all of whom appear further along in their development than the second-rounder.
Sunday’s duel with the Stockton Kings could represent another opportunity for James to strut his stuff in an attempt to find his form. He’ll certainly get chances to do so matched up the Kings and their collection of talent, including Boogie Ellis, Skal Labissiere and Drew Timme.
