Ben Skowronek, a wide receiver, has been added to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ active roster for their Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after being promoted off the practice squad. Veteran player Skowronek, who formerly played for the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, joined the Steelers practice squad last week. Skowronek will help cover for rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson, who is still recovering from an ankle injury.
“I felt Pittsburgh would be the best fit for me, but I had a few opportunities to join practice squads,” Skowronek stated. “From a distance, I have a great deal of respect for Coach Tomlin and the way the Pittsburgh organization has conducted itself over the years. I got a kick out of seeing them and all that stuff growing up.
Skowronek spent as much time as a wide receiver with the Rams as a special teams ace. He performed admirably for them not only as a wide receiver but also as a fullback in 2022. Although Skowronek expects it will happen in Pittsburgh, that did not materialize in 2023.

Skowronek will probably be used by the Steelers on special teams in addition to being given a respectable role to play on the offense.
