Back in the day, Barber was a star running back for the Giants who made three Pro Bowls and reached the Super Bowl in the 2000 season.
Barber has admitted that he’s a fan of Hall, the current star running back for the Jets, and while on his WFAN Radio show, he was presented with a Hall jersey and had no problem putting it on, despite the heated rivalry with his former club.
Barber faced some serious ribbing from others on his show, but he seemed to wear the jersey proudly.
Hall, a second-round pick in 2022, was limited to seven games as a rookie because he tore his ACL and meniscus, but he bounced back last season and posted 994 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
Much like Barber was, Hall is also a dual-threat running back, as he caught 76 passes for 591 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.
Because of Hall’s talents and abilities, plenty of people feel the Jets can do something special this year, as long as quarterback Aaron Rodgers can play at a high level.
The Jets traded for Rodgers last offseason amidst great fanfare and hype, but the future Hall of Famer tore his Achilles on their first offensive series of the season, and just like that, the season essentially was over for them.
Some are doubtful Rodgers can still play well at age 40, but if he gets the same level of support from Hall, the Jets should have a real shot at winning the AFC East and perhaps going far in the playoffs.
