Lions and Dan Campbell aim to not lose ‘identity’ as Detroit opens Day 1 of Training Camp.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WILX) – The Detroit Lions are coming off of a historic season. Winning 12 games and capturing their first NFC North title since ‘93. Now the goal is to obviously repeat, but that process started today in Allen Park with Day 1 of Training Camp.

Campbell said at his press conference on Wednesday morning that earlier in his career as either a coach or player, he was on a team that went 12-4 with a ton of success. Then, the next season, they tried to copy the exact same formula, but it didn’t work. His team went 7-9 that season, and he learned a lesson that he won’t forget.

I will never sacrifice our identity for any person or anything,” said Campbell.

Detroit remains hungry after finishing just a half shy of its ultimate goal of making a Super Bowl. Now players like wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive lineman Taylor Decker are determined to take that next step.

Lions will practice for the first time in front of fans on Saturday for Lions Loyalty members.
