Hull City have already been told why their next transfer will be a success.

Hull City are expected to seal the signing of defender Cody   from Leeds United in what will be their second transfer deal of the summer.

The 22-year-old right-back is expected at Cottingham on Tuesday and will follow the permanent arrival of Ryan Giles at the MKM Stadium this summer.

had been offered a fresh contract by Leeds but has decided a move to the Tigers would be better for his development after loan spells at Cardiff City,   Town and Birmingham City.

He has accepted a contract from City and Leeds will be owed a nominal fee from the Tigers as compensation for signing a player under-24 on a ‘free’ transfer.

Many felt   was unlucky not to get more game-time at Leeds, where he made just 10 appearances after making his debut under Marcelo  in 2021.

He was named Cardiff’s Player of the season in 2021/22 and helped  win promotion to the Premier League the following year. Hatters boss Rob Edwards was a big fan and also managed him at England youth level.

And speaking after signing  a , he laid out all the attributes which point to him succeeding under Tim Walter at City.

There was not much doubt really, all the attributes were there,” Edwards told   Today after  joined the Hatters on loan from Leeds in January 2023

A really good mentality, technically he’s a really good footballer and physically fantastic as well. They’re pretty good attributes to have, especially in this modern game now, so there wasn’t too much doubt from my point of view.

What I would say is some of his strengths, I think he has fantastic energy and quality going forward, which is going to be a big plus for us. He’s equally adept in defending one v one situations.

is likely to be part of the travelling party for Tuesday night’s pre-season trip to   Rovers but isn’t expected to be part of the squad.
