Goodbye Zeppelin: A Farewell Message from Robert Plant.
Dear Fans and Friends
Led Zeppelin has been more than just a band. It has been a remarkable odyssey of sound, spirit, and soul. From the very first note, we embarked on a path that none of us could have fully envisioned. With Jimmy Page’s virtuosic guitar work, John Paul Jones’s intricate and masterful arrangements, John Bonham’s thunderous drumming, and my own explorations as a vocalist, we created something that resonated deeply with many. The music we made was an alchemy of diverse influences, innovative ideas, and sheer passion.
Over the years, our music has become the soundtrack to countless moments in the lives of those who have supported us. From the iconic riffs of “Stairway to Heaven” to the raw energy of “Whole Lotta Love,” our songs have left an indelible mark on the world. We have shared incredible highs, faced challenges, and weathered storms together. The camaraderie and creative synergy that defined Led Zeppelin were truly unique. The thrill of performing live, the camaraderie in the studio, and the joy of creating something new were unparalleled experiences.
But life, as it often does, brings change. As time marches on, each of us has found new paths, new passions, and new projects to pursue. The decision to move forward separately was not made lightly. It comes from a place of deep respect for the legacy of Led Zeppelin and a desire to honor it by allowing it to rest gracefully, rather than stretching it beyond its time. We all believe that the legacy we built together should remain untarnished and respected.
As I step away from this chapter, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you—our incredible fans. Your unwavering support, your enthusiasm at our concerts, and the love you’ve shown for our music have been the heartbeat of Led Zeppelin. Your stories of how our music has touched your lives are the most profound rewards we could have hoped for. Your dedication has been a driving force behind our journey, and for that, we are eternally thankful.
To my bandmates, Jimmy, John Paul, and John, I want to say thank you. We created something truly extraordinary together, and the bonds forged through our shared experiences will always remain. Each of you brought something irreplaceable to the table, and it was an honor to share this journey with you.
As I move forward into this new phase of my life, I am excited about the future and the possibilities that lie ahead. Music has always been a part of me, and I will continue to explore new horizons, collaborate with fellow artists, and pursue my passion in different ways. Though Led Zeppelin may be taking a bow, the music we made will continue to live on, as will the memories we created together.
In closing, I want to thank you all for being part of this incredible journey. Farewell, but not goodbye. The music and memories will endure, and the spirit of Led Zeppelin will always be a part of us all.
With heartfelt gratitude and fondest regards, Robert Plant
