HARDRICK SIDELINED “LONG-TERM”; HARRIS “PROGRESSING EXTREMELY…

Right offensive tackle  will be lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders “long-term” due to a quad injury he suffered Saturday against the host B.C. Lions.

It’s unfortunate for him,” Head Coach Corey Mace said. “It’s unfortunate for everybody, obviously.

He’s doing his rehab here, so having that personality around is still huge for us as a team.”

34, was a high-priority free-agent signing by the Roughriders on Feb. 13.

As a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, he was a CFL All-Star in 2021 and 2023. Last year, he was also named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.

There’s a lot of important players on the roster,” Mace said. “He was definitely a key. That was very evident when we went after him in free agency.

It’s a tough loss, with the experience at his position and leadership on game day, in the locker room and in the huddle.

But seeing the transformation in that position group since he has been here, he has done so much already for those guys.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they push forward, almost like making Pops proud.”

is the second Roughriders offensive lineman to suffer a major injury in this young season. Philip Blake is recovering also from a quad injury — one he sustained June 16 against the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Ryan   performed admirably at left guard in Blake’s absence. Newcomer Jacob Brammer is to make his CFL debut and start at right tackle on Friday against Winnipeg (7:30 p.m., Mosaic Stadium).

He showed really well in the pre-season,” Mace said after Tuesday’s practice. “A lot of things that we ID as things we try to do, he does naturally as well, so he’ll got a nod (at right tackle).

We’ve got some other guys who obviously have some playing experience and other guys who are champing at the bit as well, but we’re going to start there with our eyes on Brammer and see where that goes.

But he looked great today.

Mace added that the team is “not going to rule out”   returning to the lineup by season’s end.

was signed as a prime protector for quarterback Trevor Harris, who suffered a knee injury June 23 against the visiting Tiger-Cats.

Harris is on the six-game injured list.

He’s progressing extremely well,” Mace said. “We’re pleased with him.

Like I said from the jump, knowing Trev and his mentality of how he attacks things, I wouldn’t be shocked if he wasn’t going through the full six weeks (before being activated).

He’s trending extremely well for us. I caught him in the gym this morning. He’s doing everything we expected.
