Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has spoken out about her “worst nightmare” as she addressed the disappearance of Jay Slater.

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has expressed her deep concern for missing teenager Jay Slater, who disappeared in Tenerife on Monday June 17.

The 19-year-old went missing after attending a music festival on his Tenerife holiday, having reportedly last contacted his friend with a message about being stranded “in the middle of nowhere  with only one percent battery remaining on his phone.

There have been no updates on the search for Jay except for his final known location at the Rural de   park – an area famed for its hiking trails.

Currently, officials are scouring both Tenerife’s rugged terrains and the tourist spots near where he was staying.

Discussing the situation on Good Morning Britain, host Susanna Reid described it as her “worst nightmare given she is a mum to three boys herself – Sam, 21, Finn, 20, and Jack, 19.

It is an utter mystery, she shared.  As the mother of a teenager, three boys, it is your worst nightmare”, reports OK!. She added: The call comes through, ‘My phone’s about to die, I don’t know where I am.’

And once that phone battery’s gone, it’s obviously impossible to trace him. Honestly, what on earth.

Her fellow presenter Adil Ray said:  And all the speculation and conspiracy theories, that must be really terrible for the family. It must be really hard. Suddenly your son’s loss becomes everyone else’s property.

Coronation Street actress Vicky   took to social media last week to update her followers on the hunt for Jay, explaining that he is closely connected to her as her godmother’s grandson. She urged her fans to keep Jay in their thoughts for a safe return, posting:

I know all the authorities are pulling out all the stops to find him. Helicopters and drones etc.” She later said: “It seems everyone is looking so that gives us all some hope that he will be found.”

As the search continues, Jay’s mother, Debbie, has travelled to Tenerife accompanied by her eldest son.

She said: I’m obviously beside myself with worry which is why I’ve flown out here with my eldest guy to do anything we can to help. We’re just praying the police or someone finds Jay.

I know there’s a mountain rescue team out and a helicopter. Nothing’s ever going to be enough when your youngest son’s gone missing but it sounds as if the police here are taking this very seriously and doing the best job they can.
