NY’s Orchard Park Since the Buffalo Bills selected him with the 33rd overall pick in this month’s NFL draft, Keon Coleman has been the buzz of the league.

There has been a lot of hoopla surrounding the 20-year-old pass catcher because of his sweets, his ability to purchase jackets, and his endearing attitude.

Coleman took the football pitch for the first time wearing the Bills blue, red and white last week at the rookie minicamp. He had a wave of emotions.

“A lot of nerves. It’s thrilling,” he remarked. The length of the (draft) process makes the moment seem less significant. However, I believe that after I picked up the helmet and put it on, I felt as though I had been jolted back to reality.

52 players attended the Bills’ rookie minicamp on Friday: 12 undrafted free agents, 26 tryout players, 4 veterans who helped teach the newcomers the ropes, and 10 draft picks. Attendees were defensive back Kendall Williamson, tackle Richard Gouraige, receiver Tyrell Shavers in his second year of eligibility, and Bryan Thompson.

Coleman didn’t get many chances during the brief session, but he did show some flashes on two plays: one in an 11-on-11 play that came towards the conclusion of team drills, and another during a 7-on-7 play. Using outstanding footwork and a great release, the first rep was explosive and went to a wide-open area of the field. The fact that Coleman was so wide-open made it impossible for tryout quarterback Jacob Eason to ruin the play. Eason hit it for a completion of roughly twelve yards.
