In the midst of a match, Lionel Messi addressed the TV audience directly, expressing his disapproval of an odd rule change in Major League Soccer.

Over the course of the last ten or so years, Major League Soccer has significantly improved, attracting more and better homegrown players in addition to better overseas stars.

The fact that Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami along with several of his former Barcelona colleagues undoubtedly contributed to MLS’s increased popularity on a worldwide scale.

Fortunately for Miami, Messi’s absence didn’t hamper their efforts to get back into the match.

Matias Rojas scored a stunning 30-yard free-kick while his superstar teammate was off the field, before Luis Suarez drew the Herons level in the third minute of first-half injury time.

Benjamin Cremaschi put Miami in front after the break and Miami went on to win 3-2.

Luckily, Messi’s absence didn’t interfere with Miami’s attempts to reenter the game.

While his top player was off the pitch, Matias Rojas scored an incredible 30-yard free kick. In the third minute of first-half injury time, Luis Suarez pulled the Herons level.

After the interval, Benjamin Cremaschi gave Miami the lead, and Miami won 3-2.
