On Sunday, two former LSU women’s basketball guards disclosed where they intend to resume their collegiate careers.
Kateri Poole, a 2023 NCAA tournament starter, is moving to Houston, while Angelica Velez, a freshman who played little in 2024, is transferring to Syracuse.
Poole, who is now a two-time transfer, arrived in March, three months after coach Kim Mulkey announced that the then-junior was no longer on the LSU roster.
Poole transferred to LSU from Ohio State in 2023 and quickly established himself as an important member of the Tigers’ national championship team. Mulkey started the 5-foot-8 guard in five tournament games, and during that period, the defensive specialist shot 53% from three.
LSU lost four players, including Poole and Velez, via the transfer site. Hailey Van Lith has committed to TCU, while Janae Kent, a freshman wing, has decided to attend Texas A&M.
Mulkey and her staff made up for those losses by adding four transfers: Miami’s Shayeann Day-Wilson, Arizona’s Kailyn Gilbert, Mississippi State’s Mjracle Sheppard, and Arkansas’ Jersey Wolfenbarger.
