Orchard Park, New York (AP) As impersonal as it may appear that their explosive on-field relationship ended with an exchange of phone texts, Bills quarterback Josh Allen expressed on Thursday how much receiver Stefon Diggs meant to him during their four seasons together in Buffalo.

Allen expressed only appreciation in his first opportunity to discuss his now-former teammate’s move to the Houston Texans earlier this month, making no mention of Diggs’ erratic temperament or the occasional sideline spat.

“Just thanking him for what he did for me, and (I’ll) always have a place in my heart for him. I’ll always cherish that person like he was my brother. And I wish him all the best,” Allen continued, revealing what he texted to Diggs. “My lasting memory of Stef will be the receiver that helped me become the quarterback that I am today.”

The combination was brought together in March 2020, when Buffalo traded a first-round draft pick to Minnesota for Diggs, and they went on to rewrite several of Buffalo’s single-season passing and scoring records, as well as lead the team to four consecutive AFC East titles.
