After centre Dwight Powell fell on him on December 8, the Mavs guard had a heel contusion that sidelined him for 12 games, and he later missed six games with a sprained right thumb.
Irving has played 30 consecutive games, the most since 2016. The Mavericks have gone 23-7 over that time, with Irving averaging 26.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 30 consecutive games.
With a victory over the Heat, Dallas (49-30) can clinch the Southwest Division. It presently leads the New Orleans Pelicans (47-32) by two games with three games remaining in the regular season. If the Mavericks lose against Miami, they can still win the division if the New Orleans Pelicans lose to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
