Arizona — The Arizona Cardinals have been quite upfront about their likely withdrawal from the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft.

“We’re always going to be listening,” Cardinals General Manager Monti Ossenfort earlier told reporters. “We’ll always have this conversation. We may not reach a point where the deal makes sense, whether at No. 4 or wherever we choose, but we will always have the talk.”

With so many holes to fill on the roster, Arizona may soon duplicate their efforts from last summer.

There are a few teams that could make the move to where the Cardinals are now, but the Minnesota Vikings are the current favorites, having recently acquired an extra first-round pick and appearing to be all-in on a new quarterback after losing Kirk Cousins to free agency and missing out on other previously available names.

The 33rd Team recently conducted an exercise in which NFL voice Charles Davis and former GM Rick Spielman represented respective teams trying to make a move on draft day, and the Cardinals-Vikings trade talks went as follows:

Charles Davis (playing as Vikings General Manager): “So Monti Ossenfort is your quarterback. You paid him a few years ago. Kyler Murray clearly appeals to your head coach. He has expressed his desire for him to be an extra coach on the field, as well as his confidence in him. So you have your quarterback. I know you’re starving for receivers because you finished 31st or 32nd in wide receiver yards last year.”

Rick Spielman (acting as Cardinals GM): “If you are interested – and I mean really interested – in going up and getting your quarterback from the Minnesota Vikings, I will take both of them. And I need one next year because you don’t have one.
