When Josh Dobbs signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent, he already knew at least one of his teammates. Dobbs was excited to rejoin with Jauan Jennings, the Niners’ dependable and muscular wide receiver, in Santa Clara after playing two seasons together at Tennessee. In 2020, San Francisco selected Jennings in the seventh round of the draft. Four years later, they reunite as teammates.

Jennings just appeared on Dobbs’ podcast, “Torchbearers.” The two talked about their days at Tennessee before briefly discussing their reunion with the Niners.

“But then, last week, I had the opportunity to visit the complex and immerse myself in the culture, which was precisely what I was looking for. At this point in my career, I want to be able to experience the dance, in whatever form or capacity it may take.

“And so to join a team that’s done it, my mentality is whatever I can do to help get back there and then go from there.”

Dobbs understands the intricacies of the quarterback room, where Brock Purdy is the clear leader of the attack. However, Dobbs is eager to help in any way he can to assure a return to the Super Bowl.

“And Brock’s been balling,” Dobbs went on. “It’s been incredibly interesting to watch what he’s been doing. So, whatever contribution I may make to the room, that is my thinking and mentality. So I am excited, man.”
