Milwaukee —
Some Brewers fans attending the Opening Day game on Tuesday had issues with the new parking system.
The new technology eliminates cashiers and scanners at parking lot entries, requiring fans to activate their parking cards using their phones instead.
The Brewers tweeted on X, “Some people are having connectivity troubles when attempting to activate their parking today. We recommend attempting to connect on a regular basis, but in the interim, parking ambassadors will be patrolling each lot with handheld scanners to assist spectators.
“We tried to activate it when we first arrived, but we didn’t have any luck, so we’ll have to try again, but hopefully without getting a ticket. “We’ll see,” Brewers supporter Jacob Neve stated.
But others had no problems.
“I pulled in off the motorway and parked right away. “Wi-Fi was a little slow with the new parking, but other than that, it was fantastic,” Brewers fan Kevin Helson said.
Normally, spectators who do not pay or activate their stadium parking are cited, but the Brewers announced there will be no citations due to connectivity concerns.
Tony Janowiec, president and CEO of Interstate Parking, the company behind the technology, issued a statement saying, “The connectivity issues experienced by fans parking today at American Family Field were caused by an Interstate technology configuration issue and were unrelated to the Brewers or the MLB Ballpark App. We are attempting to resolve the issue within our app as soon as possible. Until everything is rectified, and beginning with tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon’s game, we shall return to the conventional parking method at the Ballpark. Cashiers will scan prepaid passes and take day-of-game payments upon arrival. We apologise for the inconvenience today and would like to stress that no parking violations were issued at today’s game.
