CINCINNATI — Zack Moss will succeed Joe Mixon as the Bengals’ bell cow running back in 2024, and he expressed his delight on Up & Adams this week.
Moss signed a two-year contract with the Bengals earlier this month.
“I definitely take a lot of pride in it,” Moss said of his enhanced position since moving from Indianapolis. “We have a lot of fantastic people in the room, Chase Brown and Trayveon Williams, and I’m sure they’ll bring other individuals in and stuff like that. But, you know, I’m definitely looking forward to just trying to be a leader and a guy they can count on. Each week will determine the outcome of the whole offseason. Be a professional, and do my team.
Moss finished 27th among 2023 running backs in yards (794) and carries (183) as the Bengals need more pop from the position in addition to Brown’s explosiveness.
“First thing that popped out to me was his speed, explosiveness, and what he can do with the ball in his hands and get him in space,” Moss said of Brown. “I believe he is in his second year, if I am not mistaken. So there is certainly a lot of room for him to grow and develop there. And my role is to come in and attempt to be someone he can lean on, absorb experiences from and share those experiences with him, and try to ensure he can be the greatest.
