The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback room has received more outside interest than any other squad.
While Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce has stated that any of the team’s quarterbacks must beat out Aidan O’Connell for the starting job, many fans remain hopeful that the team will select a quarterback in the first round of next month’s draft.
For the time being, however, the attention is focused on O’Connell and incoming Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew. But there is another quarterback on the roster who has been overlooked: Anthony Brown.
Brown signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders in January, and while he will have to earn his way onto the club, he does have league experience.
“He’s [Brown] played and started in this league,” Pierce remarked during the NFL Owners’ Meetings on Monday. “He has done well. I mean, quite athletic.
“I remember Champ [Kelly] and I bringing him in at the end of the season last year, and he did an excellent job in the workout.” Competitor, and another person… there are three in the room. But he creates a distinct dynamic.
“Very mobile, very athletic, good out of the pocket, and a good poise about him.”
Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 and appeared in two games for the team, including one start in Baltimore’s final regular-season game.
