Having a head coach who is as motivated to win an NBA championship as his players does not hurt, and the Boston Celtics seem to have that going for them. On Cedric Maxwell’s own CLNS Media show, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla recently expressed his desire to present Boston with a Banner 18 for winning the 1981 Celtics Finals MVP award. The hosts of the CLNS Media podcast “How Bout Them Celtics!” Jack Simone and Sam Lafrance recently discussed it and thought about what it means to have the coach so enthusiastic about Boston. To hear what they had to say, watch the attached video below.
The Boston Celtics’ chances of making the playoffs are dwindling as they dominate the Eastern Conference.
After crushing Golden State on Sunday, Boston is suddenly +220 to win the NBA Finals. The Celtics defeated the Warriors 140-88, building a 44-point lead at the half. Boston had won three times this season by 50 points or more.

Currently leading the Milwaukee Bucks by eight games in the East, the Celtics will have the remaining few weeks of the regular season to rest their star players. The top three teams in the West are separated by just a half-game in the standings, and the Sacramento Kings are eight games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are leading the league.
In the West, the Kings are ranked eighth.
Boston is now better than even the money favourites to win the conference title because of their commanding lead in the East. The Bucks are +275, Boston is now -115 to win the East, and nobody else is better than +900.
