Well, it appears that the Cincinnati Bengals were hoping to sign a cornerback in free agency after all.
Kristian Fulton, formerly of the Tennessee Titans, has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. He presumably expects to show himself in 2024 and cash in the following year. This makes sense for a player who has missed 23 games over his four seasons with the Chargers.
However, before signing his contract, he was reportedly offered agreements by the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals.
Fulton, who was picked in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft from LSU, won a national championship alongside Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. The 25-year-old Fulton has good size and a promising future in the NFL, but injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential thus far.
While at Tennessee, the cornerback started 37 games and recorded 150 tackles, one sack, four interceptions, and 25 passes defensed. Last year, he had an outstanding performance against George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, limiting the receiver to two catches for minus one yard.
Now he joins the Chargers’ roster, where he will compete for a starting spot opposite Asante Samuel Junior.
