Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles did not simply sit back and expect to improve in 2024 free agency. They became proactive to ensure that the next campaign does not conclude in the same way that it did in 2023.

That included the high-profile signings of Bryce Huff and Saquon Barkley, as well as later additions of linebacker Devin White, wide receiver DeVante Parker, and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

However, Roseman has repeatedly proved that he is continually looking for ways to improve the Eagles’ squad.

So, as the NFL calendar shifts from free agency to the draft, the Eagles still have a few options to contemplate. This includes free agents who may be willing to sign for a low price in the hopes of enhancing their status with a contender next season.

Here are three examples of contracts that Philly could propose.

The Eagles’ headline signing was Saquon Barkley. He appears to be the primary back, but there is certainly room for at least one more runner in the backfield. Currently, the Eagles have not re-signed Boston Scott or Rashaad Penny.

This leaves Kenneth Gainwell as Barkley’s primary backup. Given the former Giants’ injury history, the Eagles should consider adding depth.

They can certainly go to the draft for that. Every season, backs are taken on Day 3 and go on to contribute. However, this is a team with championship hopes. Relying on that pick to work out isn’t a failsafe strategy.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, a former first-round choice of the Kansas City Chiefs, was a disappointment. The former LSU Tiger finished his debut season with 1,100 total yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns.

His role declined with each passing season, and now he’s a free agency coming off a season in which he had only 411 total yards and two touchdowns as a complementary back.

At this stage, he’s a low-risk acquisition who won’t cost much but provides some hope due to his draft pedigree and one strong season.
