Sean Dyche believes Jarrad Branthwaite should be considered for a place in England’s team, but the Everton manager refuses to put pressure on Gareth Southgate’s decision-making process.
Branthwaite, 21, has impressed for Everton this season, playing more than 30 minutes and becoming a regular member of the defence.
“I sometimes speak to Gareth if he calls and asks for my opinion,” Dyche revealed on Saturday, following his team’s defeat at Old Trafford. “Apart from that, I’ve never chosen his team for him.
“I’d imagine Jarrad would be thinking about his performances. He was fine again today. Tarky (James Tarkowski) has been outstanding, and together they have been really effective. So I’d guess he’d be thinking about the squad, but I’ve never gotten involved in who he should or shouldn’t pickāthat’s his obligation, not mine.”
Madrid’s Diaz decides to represent Morocco.
Brahim Diaz, a Real Madrid midfielder, has chosen to represent Morocco over Spain.
Diaz, 24, has only one senior cap for Spain, scoring in a 4-0 friendly win over Lithuania in 2021, hence he is free to alter international allegiances.
The transition has not yet been made official, since some formalities need to be completed. As part of the procedure, the Moroccan FA must file a request to FIFA to change Diaz’s nationality.
Carlo Ancelotti applauded Arda Guler after the Turkish international scored his first goal for Real Madrid in today’s 4-0 victory over Celta Vigo.
Guler just entered the game in the 89th minute but scored in extra time after being passed through by Dani Ceballos and passing the ball around Celta goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
“He has played very little but I was convinced that he could do something,” he remarked. “Arda is a fantastic talent. We discuss it every day.
“The goal is of excellent quality. He’ll have a future here. “We all think so.”
Vinicius Junior also scored for Madrid, while Celta’s Carlos Dominguez and Guaita scored own goals.
