The Washington Commanders have been very active in the market recently. Based on their early activities, we should expect significant modifications to the team’s outfit this season. The Commanders have made two key signings: a new quarterback and a new running back.

Marcus Mariota – Quarterback
The squad from the capital made an exciting move by signing Marcus Mariota to a one-year contract worth $6 million. This move has sparked many questions among fans and sports analysts, especially since the team already has Sam Howell, who started all 17 games as a quarterback last season. With Mariota’s arrival, the Commanders now have two quarterbacks on their roster, which is unusual in the sport.

Furthermore, the team has the second pick in the upcoming draft, which many view as a quarterback draft. As a result, the Commanders now have multiple quarterback alternatives to choose from. However, given that the team already has two quarterbacks, it would not be remarkable if the second pick is traded for a large number of picks in the first and later rounds.

Austin Ekeler, a former Los Angeles Chargers running back, has signed a two-year opt-out contract with the Washington Redskins. The contract is worth over $12 million, with Ekeler expected to make $4.82 million in the first year. This figure comprises a $3 million bonus and $1.5 million in season-long incentives. Ekeler stands 5’10″ tall and weighs 200 pounds.

Austin Ekeler has been a significant member of the Chargers for seven seasons. During his stint with the team, he carried 990 times for 4,355 yards, caught 440 receptions for 3,884 yards, and scored 69 touchdowns. However, in 2023, he had one of the worst years of his career. He averaged only 3.5 yards per carry and was prone to drops. He also scored only five rushing touchdowns, down from 25 the previous two seasons.
