The Houston Texans are coming off their most entertaining season in recent memory. C.J. Stroud, a rookie quarterback, has reenergized the fan base and propelled Houston back into contention.

It is now on to general manager Nick Caserio to build on Stroud’s performance and speed the rebuild, establishing the Texans’ status as AFC challengers. He’s already demonstrated that he isn’t scared to be daring. Houston suffered some early losses during the legal tampering period, but on Tuesday night, the team reached an agreement with Minnesota Vikings standout edge rusher Danielle Hunter.

That should provide plenty of confidence for Houston’s future prospects, but what if they could take advantage of a dissatisfied receiver seeking for a new home?
The “Zach Gelb Show” investigated this concept, speculating on what the league may look like if the Vikings don’t extend the best receiver in football, Justin Jefferson.
“Justin Jefferson should be annoyed right now,” Gelb went on to say. “There is no reason why the Minnesota Vikings didn’t get this contract extension done last offseason.”

Jefferson is the best non-quarterback on his side of the football, breaking early-career records and continuously dominating, even in seasons when he misses several games. He featured in only nine games this season but accumulated 1,074 yards and five touchdowns.

However, with quarterback uncertainty surrounding Minnesota and an extension still to be signed, the risk of things going wrong is real enough to serve as a thinking exercise.

“I’m getting to a point, and I adore Justin Jefferson; I want him to stay in Minnesota. I believe Minnesota is an enticing location for a quarterback, but with this contract not yet completed, I would consider seeking a trade for the Vikings’ premier wide out,” Gelb added. “If I were Justin Jefferson … I’m going to Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s office and saying, ‘Let’s get this deal done. If we can’t close this agreement, I’d like to propose a trade.

“And the team I request a trade to would be the Houston Texans.”

Stroud, fresh off the best rookie season in modern quarterbacking history, is the main reason any target would want to come to Houston. However, the Texans offer much more than just a quarterback. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has established himself with his immediate success, and the defence, especially with Hunter on the roster, is deadly.
