Elite pass-rushing and the ability to really get to the quarterback on any given possession are things Cincinnati desperately needs. For the past two seasons, Trey Hendrickson has been that man, and he probably will be, but he can’t be the sole reliable player. Hopefully, Ossai can help with that.
The former third-round pick hopes that his drive will help him become a household name in 2023 and ensure that he is remembered for more than just his poorly timed play in the AFC Championship Game.
2. Volson Cordell
Cordell Volson, a 2022 fourth-round pick, was one of the Bengals’ most dependable offensive line starters. Entering his second year with Cincinnati, he now has the opportunity to make the next step and establish himself as one of the offensive front’s catalysts.
From the beginning, Volson shown the skills of a professional, and this was evident when he defeated Jackson Carman to secure a starting guard position. Volson will have extra support from the signing of Orlando Brown Jr., which should help him flourish in his role.
That ought to free Volson from having to take up other people’s slack so he can concentrate on the work at hand. It might be the year that establishes Volson as a major player moving ahead.
