According to reports on Tuesday, the UNC football team has emerged as the top choice for Texas A&M transfer quarterback Max Johnson.

Johnson committed to the program within 24 hours.

With Drake Maye’s impending departure, it seemed inevitable that the Tar Heels would bring in a transfer quarterback to fight for the job with Connor Harrell. Inside Carolina said that other quarterbacks approached North Carolina, but Mack Brown and his staff believed Johnson was the best fit for the team.

Johnson started his career at LSU before moving to Texas A&M. Last season, Johnson appeared in eight games for the Aggies, completing 62.1% of his passes and threw nine touchdown passes. His playing time was reduced owing to an injury.

The UNC football program’s quarterback situation remains murky, as it is unclear what the team’s plans are. At this time, it appears that there will be another quarterback fight in Chapel Hill, with Harrell and Johnson vying for the No. 1 spot.

Johnson, as a graduate transfer, will be instantly eligible to play for his new squad. When he comes in Chapel Hill, he will have two seasons to play as a Tar Heel.

We anticipated a hectic offseason for the UNC football team, and it didn’t take long for the action to begin.
