With the SEC and NCAA Tournaments drawing near, Auburn’s basketball team is still in a great position despite a tough loss to Kentucky in Neville Arena.
Jaylin Williams appeared to have suffered a serious injury against Kentucky, but it appears that Auburn, which hopes to contend in March, will get him back on the court shortly. For a squad that can go far in March with W illiams on the court, this is fantastic news.
Auburn would not be a top 15 team in college basketball if it weren’t for John Broome, Williams’s frontcourt mate, who is having an incredible season for the Tigers. Broome is second in the SEC in blocks (2.4 a game), second in the SEC in rebounds (8.5 a game), third in field goal percentage (54.6%), and eighth in points per game (16.1). The statement from BVM Sports regarding Broome’s inclusion on the John R. Wooden Award Watch List “underlines his exceptional talent and the impact he’s had on Auburn’s basketball program, paving the way for potential future accolades and opportunities.”
It’s possible that Broome’s amazing season will allow him to slip into the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Broome will probably be the reason Auburn makes another historic run in the NCAA Tournament.
