With the Super Bowl behind us, all eyes are on the NFL offseason, which begins in a month with the formal announcement of trades and free agency.

Anticipate discussions to center around the quarterback position, which is the Las Vegas Raiders’ most critical need.

The Raiders must choose whether to target a quarterback in the draft or pursue a veteran through a trade or free agent in order to replace Aidan O’Connell. Justin Fields is a name to keep in mind if the Raiders decide to make a deal. With the first overall pick, the Chicago Bears are anticipated to select Cable Williams of USC and trade Fields.

Fields has, of course, been associated with the Raiders for several months. And it has persisted into the summer; according to a recent ESPN projection, Fields will receive a second-round pick from Las Vegas.

When Fields was selected by the Bears with the No. 11 overall pick in 2021 after being selected by Ohio State, Raiders assistant general manager was in Chicago’s front office, adding to the rumors of Fields joining the Raiders.

However, Fields’ previous offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was hired by the Raiders, and the two weren’t very successful, so many believe it may dissuade the Raiders’ decision-makers from pursuing Fields.

Fields, who turns 25 next month, made some progress in 2023. Getting Fields wouldn’t be a big splash, but it might work out. After reaching an agreement, the Raiders would have to determine whether to grant Fields the fifth-year option for the 2025 campaign. Thus, there are a few issues.

We polled the community during the season to find out if they supported Fields being the Raiders’ next quarterback. Of those who responded, 79 percent were against it and only 21 percent were in support of it.
