Hugh Freeze persevered with his current squad as Auburn fans wanted the Tigers to go get a quarterback via the transfer portal.
The play at quarterback was dubious the previous season, and aside from one young, inexperienced player, one role player from that season chose to transfer. Every quarterback on the roster appears to have an equal chance of winning the starting position based on Coach Freeze’s interviews with the media.
Since Payton Thorne is the more seasoned player, many believe he will be chosen for the starting position, but Walker White, Hank Brown, and Holden Geriner will all have an opportunity.
Zac Blackerby, the host of the Locked On Auburn Podcast, questioned Brown about the dynamics in the quarterback room when he joined. Brown had this to say, “I adore the quarterback room. All of us are really close. Walker is a great addition to that, too. He’s a nice man, you know. Thus, throughout the course of the last year that we have been together, I believe that all of us have matured and become much closer. I simply couldn’t say enough positive things about it, you know. We’re quite close.
and we can’t wait to grow as a team and compete against one another.”
Whoever wins this position will have to fight hard, but all four of the names mentioned have a good chance of doing so. Although Thorne has the better odds in this race, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if one of the young guys came out on top.
