CINCINNATI — The Bengals have elevated former quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher to offensive coordinator and assistant quarterbacks coach Brad Kragthorpe to quarterbacks coach. It appears that Fredi Knighten has been elevated to Kragthorpe’s previous position; Knighten has served as the team’s offensive assistant for the past two seasons and was a quarterback for Arkansas State from 2012 to 2015, finishing fourth in program history with 6,986 total yards.
“Bowers’ inventory is dispersed throughout. Sikkema says, “There are those who have him falling to the bottom of the top 20, while others have him going No. 5 to the Chargers.” “Still, the Georgia product is one of the best receiving tight ends we’ve seen come through.”
It would be a classic example of the rich becoming richer if the Bengals were successful in signing Bowers. Between 2021 and 2023, he recorded 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, two wide receivers who are scheduled to become free agents this summer, mean that Cincinnati will probably need to add another playmaker. If Bowers were to tumble, the team would still be wise to add him even if both were to return in 2024.
In 2023, the Bengals’ tight ends managed a meager 686 yards and four touchdowns combined. QB Joe Burrow would be extremely delighted with Bowers, who is ranked as PFF’s finest tight end and the sixth overall prospect on their big board.
There is justification for Bowers to be selected in the draft. After witnessing how Kyle Pitts’ time with the Falcons has gone thus far, other positions might be worth more and the NFL should be more wary of first-round tight ends.
Over the last two years, Pitts, the No. 4 overall choice in the 2021 NFL Draft, has only 81 catches for 1,023 yards and five touchdowns.
