Heyward remarked on Friday, one day after being named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, which honors an NFL player for their community impact, “It’s my hometown and my birthplace.”

Heyward has accomplished this in a variety of ways, most notably through his charity, The Heyward House, which concentrates on problems related to children and youth.
