Jermaine Eluemunor, a lineman for the Las Vegas Raiders, is understandably irritated that the Chiefs, the team’s AFC West foe, are in town for Super Bowl LVIII.
With the Lombardi Trophy on the line, the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in a game that will be played in Las Vegas for the first time in the event’s storied history. It goes without saying that the Chiefs are settling in at the training complex of a rival team they have faced since both teams joined the AFL in 1960.
Despite their 130-game rivalry, this is the first time one team has ever used the other’s facilities. The Raiders and Chiefs are bitter rivals. The Chiefs will also be in the Raiders locker room for the Super Bowl, hoping to become the first team since Tom Brady’s 2004–05 New England Patriots to win two titles in a row.
Anger naturally arises when one sees a bitter opponent or nemesis on one’s own ground. How does it really feel to watch the Chiefs practise at the Raiders facilities? Eluemunor just chuckled.
It’s a thing. Through clinched teeth, Eluemunor exclusively told Mirror Sport, “It’s something, for sure.” “I don’t like it at all. They are establishing base and training in our facilities. It irritates me a little. It’s not something I like at all.
“It bothers me because I despise the Chiefs.” dislike it greatly.
Eluemunor responded, “I don’t need any extra motivation,” when asked if the Chiefs’ enjoyment of Super Bowl week in the Raiders’ home city of Las Vegas will provide him more energy heading into the 2024 campaign. If anything, it only makes me want to pummelled them even more when we face them the following year.
Eluemunor made his debut for the Raiders in 2022, starting at right tackle in all 17 of the team’s regular season games. Similar to last season, the 29-year-old was there as Las Vegas overcame a challenging start under Josh McDaniels to welcome Antonio Pierce as an interim head coach.
Pierce’s presence spurred a comeback, and on his head coaching debut, the Raiders destroyed his old team, the New York Giants. The Raiders scored the most points in franchise history in their 63–21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in December. Christmas Day a week later was the Raiders’ first victory over the Chiefs since 2020.
The victory at Arrowhead was the pinnacle of the final stretch of the season for the Raiders, proving they belonged alongside the perennial Super Bowl contenders. Eluemunor, a passionate man, must have undoubtedly enjoyed that win on enemy soil.
“It means everything [to be a Raider]. I always thought I matched what the Raiders were: gritty, do whatever it takes to win. To be a part of this team and really get my career started here was a blessing for sure. I’ve loved every single second of playing here, and I’m going into free agency but I’m hoping I can continue my career here. I just love playing for this franchise. “Everyone knows the Raiders. If you go to another country, you see people wearing a Raiders hat, even if they aren’t aware of the team – the logo is worldwide. For me to be a part of that, it’s very
