For the 2024 season, the talented and hardworking centre back will be with the Detroit Lions.

Frank Ragnow has stated that his career will stay in Motown. He acknowledged at the conclusion of a demanding season that having to deal with ailments for the previous two years had taken a toll on him.

“I just need a few weeks to get healthy,” Ragnow said at the NFL Honours to the Free Press. “I guess I just kind of get right back into it throughout the offseason, but I think as I get older, I need to realise that sometimes maybe less really is more. We’ll resume our work when I take a little time to ensure my health.”

Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson ignored

Dan Campbell did not earn Coach of the Year, which was unexpected.

This year’s winner was head coach Kevin Stefanski of the Browns.

Detroit’s gifted offensive coordinator will not win any NFL awards for the second year in a row.

Johnson placed second in the Associated Press Assistant Coach of the Year competition last year.

Johnson lost to another head coach in Motown after the Lions’ offence finished in the top ten.

Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator for the Browns, won the AFC North title and Assistant Coach of the Year award.

According to those with knowledge of the issue, the Lions offensive coordinator told the Seahawks and Commanders that he would be staying in Detroit, as reported by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Tuesday.

The two head coaching positions that are still vacant are in Seattle and Washington. This week, Johnson was supposed to have interviews with both clubs.

After igniting Detroit’s offence the previous two seasons, the 37-year-old Lions offensive coordinator was seen as a strong contender for the head coaching position. The Lions have ranked fourth in points per game (26.9), first in total yards per contest (387.4), and sixth in yards per play (5.9) since Johnson took over Dan Campbell’s offence in 2022.

Johnson combined the qualities of his skill position players with the strength of his offensive line to create a well-balanced run-pass offence. When inventive playcalls were added, Johnson’s strategy became too much for defences to handle. Four separate Lions players (1,539), Jahmyr Gibbs (1,261), David Montgomery (1,132), and Sam LaPorta (893) had 500+ scrimmage yards in 2023 (T-most in the NFL).

Under Johnson, who assisted in placing his quarterback in comfortable circumstances, Jared Goff has excelled. Goff has been second in the NFL in pass yards (9,013) and pass TD-INT ratio (59-19) since the offensive coordinator took over in 2022.
