In 2024, the Green Bay Packers’ defence will be substantially changed. Head coach Matt LaFleur has resorted to former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley after firing defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Barry favours a defence similar to Fangio’s, whereas Hafley plays a 4-3 base defence that is mostly dependent on press coverage.

The rest of the defensive staff has undergone several adjustments as a result of Hafley’s appointment as the new defensive coordinator. Jerry Montgomery, the team’s defensive line coach who had been there since 2015, was fired and the New England Patriots hired him shortly after. Actually, only Ryan Downard and Jason Rebrovich are still employed by Barry as coaches.

Nonetheless, Downard and Rebrovich’s positions on the staff will change from 2023 to 2024. Former linebackers coach for the Packers Rebrovich is now the defensive line coach. Downard is the defensive backs coach presently, having coached the safeties previously.

To take Rebrovich’s place as linebackers coach, LaFleur and Hafley went out and signed one of the most sought-after defensive coordinators available: Anthony Campanile

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein reports that Anthony Campanile, a former linebackers coach, was able to join the Packers. Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, had wanted him on his staff after he had interviewed for the defensive coordinator position with the New York Giants:
