According to Pete Oliver, Wanderers are happy to announce that striker Aaron Collins has joined the team in a significant transaction.
The 26-year-old was signed by the Whites on a contract that runs until June 2027 from Bristol Rovers for an unknown sum.
Collins, who scored 16 goals for the Pirates to earn League One Player of the Year the previous season, joins Wanderers as their third winter transfer window addition. He will wear shirt number 28.
The Welshman, who led Rovers to promotion from League Two in 2022 as well, will significantly improve Wanderers’ current offensive options as they attempt to maintain their promotion challenge and make future improvements.
Collins, a dynamic player who leads League One in assists this season along with goals scored, will add another level of skill to a strike group that already includes Cameron Jerome, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Dion Charles, and Victor Adeboyejo.
Ian Evatt, the manager, was looking to add a striker for the short and long term because Dan Nlundulu is currently out due to injury. Collins, who scored 35 goals in the league in just 118 appearances for Rovers after previous stints with Newport County, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Morecambe, and Forest Green, is his top target.
“I’m looking forward to working with Aaron, and the Board has backed Chris (Markham) and I immensely with this. Thanks to them for their support in getting the deal done,” Evatt remarked.
“We can’t wait to have him here. He is an exceptionally talented player who offers a unique perspective to our current lineup. He fits the description of the guys we’re always searching for—athletes who can complement our current roster and help us get better.
“We have a really talented bunch of players, especially our forwards. Naturally, Dan’s passing was devastating. For the previous few months, we’ve felt like a single unit, so having Aaron join the group is fantastic.
