Before the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas on February 11, Kelce’s profile has never been greater. He appears in TV commercials all the time, hawking everything from soup to insurance. In addition to participating in charity softball games and made-for-TV golf matches, he served as a guest host on “Saturday Night Live” last year.
As you may have heard, he is also dating Taylor Swift. And that could mean that Monday night, when he makes his big debut on what the NFL refers to as “Super Bowl Opening Night,” will be very busy. The occasion has grown into a televised extravaganza of its own, and the conversation that takes place is typically lighter fare than serious Xs and Os.
Put another way, a lot of questions regarding Kelce’s pop star girlfriend should be expected.
Inside Arrowhead Stadium, Kelce said to a few reporters, “That’s going to be kind of where it starts for everybody, and at this point, I just love it.” It’s a thrilling moment. I’ve had a couple opportunities to appreciate something that truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Although it seems to be the idea, Kelce did not state if he anticipates Swift to be inside Allegiant Stadium by kickoff. Due to the time difference, she might be able to make it in time for her Saturday night concert in Tokyo as part of her Eras Tour.
Swift was undoubtedly the centre of attention last weekend in Baltimore, as she saw Kelce lead the Chiefs to an AFC title game victory against the Ravens 17-10 while scoring a touchdown. Following the game, Kelce was joined by his well-known brother Jason, his dad, and possibly his equally well-known mother Donna, in a chaotic celebration on the field. Swift even planted a big kiss on him.
“Man, it’s just another memory from the journey that we get to treasure,” Kelce remarked. “It has motivated me to play even harder because I was blessed with all the support I need off the pitch,” the player said.
Kelce’s season hasn’t been quite as dominant statistically as it has been in the past. A portion of that was because he missed the Chiefs’ regular-season finale against the Chargers, when they had secured the AFC West and were unable to improve upon their No. 3 playoff seed. Another part of it was because of a knee ailment that held him out of a Week 1 loss to the Lions.
However, when asked if this season—his 11th in the league—has been more difficult than the others, 34-year-old Kelce bucked.
“It’s true that every year is unique,” he remarked. “I won’t sugarcoat it: there have been years when I’ve had to deal with challenges that were, to be honest, a little more severe and annoying than what I faced this year.”
