The National Hockey League celebrates brilliance during the All-Star break, which is arrived. Continuing with that theme, let’s take a time to choose Detroit’s winners for each major NHL award based on the 50 Red Wings games we’ve watched thus far.

Larkin has continued to be Detroit’s offensive motor despite missing six games in December due to injury. He leads the club in scoring while dishing out assists to a variety of teammates on his wings and frequently taking on the most challenging matchup of the evening.

Dylan Larkin has 23 goals in 44 games with Rocket Richard.

Despite the best efforts of rookie Alex DeBrincat, who has scored at a respectable rate of 18 goals in 50 games, Larkin leads the Red Wings not just in points but also in goals scored. Larkin has demonstrated a preference for scoring goals at crucial times and from impossibly high angles.

Although Larkin’s 200-foot impact as a scorer and match-up centerman makes him the obvious candidate for that honour, Alex Lyon and Moritz Seider also have strong arguments to make.

Seider has six goals and 20 assists to his name this season, but it’s his defensive play that earns him the nod here. Derek Lalonde likes to argue that despite Seider’s virtually exceptional rate of taking on tough matchups against elite opponents, he still manages to win his shifts. Though the third-year German defenseman is the obvious choice here, his teammate Jake Walman is also deserving of recognition.

The simplest option on the list is this one. Twice this season, Lyon has kept Detroit in contention—once by sparking the team’s comeback in November during their trip to Sweden, and again by driving their January run. After being third on Detroit’s goaltender depth chart at the beginning of the season, he has earned the starting spot with a 13-6-2 record, 2.52 goals against average, and a.922 save percentage.

Compher is likely Detroit’s most significant addition, even if DeBrincat was the Red Wings’ most spectacular offseason signing and has mostly lived up to expectations. The Red Wings’ lineup’s depth and makeup have significantly altered as a result of his playmaking, skating, and strong defence. As the primary defensive forward for the Red Wings, he plays a pivotal role in the Detroit penalty kill unit and is a dependable right-hander in face-off situations.

Over his career, Fabbri has had an absurd amount of bad luck with injuries, and this season has been no different. From significant setbacks like pucks to the face to minor but equally excruciating knocks, Fabbri has had it all. Fabbri nevertheless never hesitates to dive for a rebound or leap in front of the puck to block a shot.
