Superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders announced on Instagram that he had surgery on his right hand on Tuesday.
Crosby has already had a busy offseason in terms of surgeries; two weeks ago, he underwent knee surgery after playing through a bursa problem this past season.

Crosby’s year-long struggles with injuries didn’t stop him from being productive.

In 17 games, he recorded 90 tackles (23 for loss, which lead the NFL), 14.5 sacks, 31 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed, and a fumble recovery. He is a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year and was selected for his third Pro Bowl.

He wasn’t, however, limited to pursuing the quarterback. Last week, Peter King of Pro Football Talk reported that Crosby had “eighteen run stuffs (rushers tackled for zero or negative yards) and forty-two run stops.” played every snap in the 10 Raider games this season, which was unusual; the only other players to accomplish so were the four who each had one. Have a higher total pressure (94) than Watt and Garrett.”

In other words, he’s become one of the NFL’s most significant defensive players. However, individual metrics are insufficient for Crosby, who is eager to win right now.

In five years, I have just once advanced to the playoffs. In early January, while promoting Antonio Pierce’s retention as head coach in Las Vegas, he told reporters, “It’s bullshit.” And we need to decide on our course of action going forward. I’m also tired of change. I’m over losing. All that is important to me is stability and f–king consistency. My goal is to triumph.”

The Raiders have a shot as long as Crosby is healthy. Off the edge, he’s grown to be one of the league’s most feared figures.
