Owner of the Las Vegas Raiders Mark Davis must make a significant choice. Currently on his fifth coaching search in eleven years, he is looking for a long-term partner.
His options, though, might be limited because standout defensive end Maxx Crosby told the press that he would think about asking for a move if head coach Antonio Pierce wasn’t kept on. As the Raiders’ temporary head coach, Pierce did a good job managing the team and winning the players over.
On the other hand, prominent figures such as Jim Harbaugh, Bill Belichick, and Mike Vrabel are accessible. Davis can become idealistic and wish to appoint a head coach with a successful coaching history. He could lose Crosby in that scenario, but trading him would undoubtedly net the Raiders a large sum.
At just 26, Crosby was recently selected for the Associated Press’s Second-Team All-Pro team for the second time in his career. Although they don’t select until No. 13 in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Raiders need a quarterback.
Despite having the first pick, the Chicago Bears seem undecided about quarterback Justin Fields. If the Raiders can convince them to hold onto Fields and trade the top selection by offering them a defensive player like Crosby who can change games, then maybe he can be that man moving forward. To close a trade, the Raiders may need to send Crosby, a 2024 first-round selection, and a 2025 second-round pick.
