Ja’Marr Chase, a wide receiver with the Cincinnati Bengals, will not participate in this month’s NFL playoffs. Chase will still be able to watch some of the best football, though. Chase was questioned on Wednesday about which teams would compete in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas during an appearance on SportsCenter alongside colleague Tee Higgins. Nevertheless, Chase disclosed which franchise he does not want to contend for the Lombardi Trophy rather than providing his two teams. Chase remarked, “Anybody but the Chiefs,” during the segment.
In recent years, the Bengals-Chiefs rivalry has grown to be one of the AFC’s most intense and well-liked matchups, both during the regular season and during the postseason. In overtime, Cincinnati overcame Kansas City in the thrilling 2021 AFC championship match. But in the ’22 AFC title game, the Bengals fell short against the Chiefs. In Week 17 of the 2023 season, the Chiefs defeated the Bengals 25–17. The Bengals’ 23 season was difficult because Joe Burrow’s wrist injury forced the team to switch quarterbacks multiple times during the season.
The Bengals (9-8) had a successful season despite Burrow’s absence and Cincinnati’s ups and downs during the season. They won 31-14 against the Cleveland Browns in Week 18, which put them just outside the postseason picture.
