Last week, the Hornets visited Sacramento and gave the Kings one of their worst defeats of the year. The Kings now have the opportunity to get revenge on the Hornets at home.

In what was one of Sacramento’s worst scoring performances of the season, the Hornets visited the city just over a week ago and went on a 10-0 run to win the game 111-104. In the game, the Kings committed 21 turnovers, with Domantas Sabonis accounting for a staggering 11 of them. Bridges chipped in with 27. With the victory, Charlotte ended an 11-game losing run.The Kings had to overcome a significant deficit in order to win yesterday. Before bouncing back in the second quarter and seizing the lead at the half, Sacramento trailed the Pistons by as many as 20 points after giving up 47 points in the first quarter. The Kings had gotten off to a strong start against Charlotte a week ago, leading 18-8 for much of the first quarter. However, they were careless and let the Hornets back into the game, eventually taking a 25-21 lead at the half. TheKings never really regained their momentum after that.  Hopefully the sting (pun intended) of that loss is fresh enough that the Kings have some extra motivation to beat Charlotte tonight.

The bench’s performance in that most recent game was one of the main distinctions between the Kings and the Hornets. P.J. Washington, who finished as a +16 and scored 17 points in 29 minutes, was a major contributor. Trey Lyles led Sacramento in bench scoring with nine points. Usually a dependable sixth man, Malik Monk had one of his poorest games of the year, finishing with just 6 points in 20 minutes and a -21 rating. The Kings only need to play like they have more talent than the Hornets. Monk should be motivated to get some retribution on his former squad tonight, in my opinion.
