Wild Card Preview: Eagles vs. Bucs: Philly is Prepared to “Freaking Fight”
The Philadelphia Eagles will play their last Wild Card round game on Monday at Raymond James Stadium against the NFC South division winners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A struggling Eagles squad, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is questionable due to a dislocated middle finger on his throwing hand, will be the main attraction of the Monday night game. His middle finger was pointing in an inappropriate direction.
The Eagles are flying high in the air and expecting to land in Tampa Bay victorious. The unprecedented drop from a 10-1 regular-season record to an 11-6 one (lowest since 1986 Jets) Philadelphia has lost shockingly to the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants in back-to-back games, knocking them out of the division lead. Philadelphia has gone 1-5 in their last five meetings.
Baker Mayfield of Tampa Bay, who is enjoying one of the best seasons in team history, is the target for Philadelphia. With 4,044 passing yards (9th), 28 touchdown passes (7th), a 94.6 passer rating (10th), and a 1.8 interception percentage (5th), he is ranked among the top 10 quarterbacks.
But Mayfield might also be battling an injury. In the “ugly” Week 18 victory over the Carolina Panthers, the limping quarterback seemed to have injured his right ankle. The Eagles are making their third consecutive postseason appearance. In his first three years as the team’s head coach, Nick Sirianni became the first head coach in franchise history to make it to the postseason each year.
“I am confident that this group will rise; I know they are fighters. These men are in that locker room because they know how to frickin fight, that’s why. The coaches are skilled fighters. The players are really skilled fighters. The employees are skilled fighters. We’ll simply get back up and fight again.
