ANN ARBOUR, MI Late on Tuesday, January 9, hundreds of maize and blue coats were covered in rain on the Michigan practice field’s turf.

After defeating Washington to complete a perfect season and win the college football national title, the Michigan football team was greeted back home.

In the College Football Playoff National Championship Game held in Houston on January 8, the Wolverines defeated Washington 34–13. Since 1997, this is the first national championship for the programme.

The supporters stood in the cold to greet their team as heroes. Arms waving in players and coaches, cheers broke out and rain splattered everywhere.

Certain chants were meant to support efforts for a second consecutive national championship in two years, specifically directed at star quarterback J.J. McCarthy and head coach Jim Harbaugh of Michigan.

Fans yelled at Harbaugh, who has not yet declared his intention to return to the Michigan sideline in 2019, to “sign the contract.”

McCarthy, the most successful quarterback in Michigan football history and a predicted first-round selection at the NFL Draft, was also the target of chants that said “one more year.”

McCarthy laughed in response to the resounding support and significant request.

McCarthy remarked, “I don’t know how I could leave y’all.” I feel at home in this environment in every way.

On Wednesday, January 10, details about an official parade celebration will be released, according to organisers. It is anticipated that the celebration will take place on Saturday, January 13.

Running back Blake Corum addressed the assembly, saying, “I want to see everybody there on Saturday because it’s the real parade.”
