Arsenal has been in the running for the Japanese winger for some time, and their perseverance may finally pay off. In a relatively short period of time, Kaoru Mitoma has drawn the attention of elite teams, with Arsenal and other Premier League heavyweights at the top of the transfer list.
The fact that Mitoma’s countrymate Tomiyasu plays for the Gunners is an added benefit, as it will only make the forward’s adjustment to a new team simpler than it would be for him to do so at other teams. After a few recent occurrences at Brighton, Arsenal would have gone all in for Mitoma even if it weren’t for Tomiyasu. But Arsenal had better make use of Tomiyasu, who gets along well with Mitoma in the national team, as their secret weapon.
Joao Pedro, a forward from Watford who is valued at £30 million, has recently joined the Seagulls. The 21-year-old Japanese winger, who Brighton “claimed to be unavailable” in this transfer window, has been an excellent player for Watford on the left side. Arsenal will only be able to steal him because of his ability to play there.
We can refer to Brighton as being infamously successful in the transfer market, but at what cost? Whatever Brighton has been doing over the past year looks to be a Midas-like choice that ultimately results in gold. Whether it be selling Trossard or anything else. After the forward had an incredible season and was moved to Arsenal, we believed Brighton’s collapse was imminent. That was untrue, though, since the Tyneside team only knows how to go forward—up front.
Arsenal doesn’t seem to care if they pin Joao Pedro in as a mitoma buffer. The Gunners’ efforts to bring the Japanese international inside their dressing room and strengthen their attacking third will only intensify.
The 25-year-old Gunner (too young to be awarded a spot) has outperformed big names like Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho this season, and Mikel Arteta would not want to lose him, especially with a Champions League spot secured for the following campaign.
