The amazing quarterback for Washington, Michael Penix Jr., is in his second season after switching from Indiana. He was even more impressive against the Longhorns than he was during the regular season and the Pac-12 Championship Game, as he threw for 4,218 yards and 36 touchdowns in all. This led to his finishing second in the Heisman Trophy race. Penix finished with 430 yards and two touchdowns on 29 of his 38 completions.
Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of Michigan, praised Penix’s skill set on Wednesday.
“Exceptional arm talent, outstanding pocket presence, and excellent field vision,” stated Harbaugh. “He is quite well-groomed. Observing him, one can see that he operates at an elite level. He has this amazing presence of going through development, feeling pressure, and dropping things off to a check-down. He also makes accurate decisions and has excellent timing
Under the direction of AP Coach of the Year Kalen DeBoer, Washington has been preparing for its impending transfer from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten. There has never been a Big Ten vs. Big Ten college football championship game, but Monday will mark the closest thing to that, with both teams holding conference titles the following year (and even facing off in a title game rematch on October 5). That makes for an exciting CFP National Championship Game.
