GM Andrew Berry and the incessantly busy Cleveland Browns go with their procedure. Following their Thursday Night Football victory to secure a postseason berth, the Browns added quarterback Jeff Driskel from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad late last week. The team removed DE Sam Kamara from the active roster to create space.
After all of the Week 17 games concluded on Tuesday, Cleveland added Kamara back to the practice squad. Along with adding Kamara, the Browns also released offensive lineman Joey Fisher and punter Matt Haack from the practice squad.
The release of Haack indicates that punter Corey Bojorquez will be prepared to punt in Week 18, but Berry only had to release one player to make room for Kamara. Why two? Many are wondering if Cleveland is making room for Cook after hearing earlier today that RB Dalvin Cook was waived. Veteran players who join teams during the season typically join the practice squad first; Joe Flacco, the starting quarterback for the Browns, is a prime example of this. Sam Kamara, a DE, has been added by the Cleveland Browns to the practice squad. Furthermore, P Matt Haack and G Joey Fisher have been removed from the practice squad by the team.
Out of Stony Brook, Kamara (6-0, 272) is in his second NFL season. He was first signed by the Bears in 2021 as an undrafted free agent, and he has made 10 appearances in the league. He has played in just one game this season and has spent the majority of 2022 and 2023 on the Browns practice squad.
