When April arrives, the Chicago Bears will have to make a significant choice.
They can either stick with former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, who has shown promise at times but also struggled mightily, or they can choose to select USC dual-threat quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, or they can choose to select one of the other top signal callers in this year’s class, such as Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.
Though trade rumours are still more common than ever, Fields has showed signs that he could be the guy the Bears select in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
However, does his increasing efficiency and field maturity justify his stay in Chicago, or is it only increasing his trade value on the open market?
However, the Bears have choices, and it’s safe to presume that the group is brainstorming ideas for Fields’ future.
Fields could choose to remain where he is as the team keeps developing around him. They might even give up the top pick for the second year in a row in order to add additional talent, drafting a little later in order to acquire more of what they require.
Of course, choosing Williams at number one and trading Justin Fields for additional draft capital beforehand is also an option.
With regard to the team’s plan of action, the second alternative appears to be the more frequently accepted and popular one.
A hypothetical trade deal involving the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons for Justin Fields was initially reported by FanNation Falcon Report. It appeared to be advantageous for all sides.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Falcons, who are in town on Sunday to play the Bears and Fields in the penultimate game of the season, might be scouting the Chicago quarterback in anticipation of a potential position as the starting quarterback.
It’s the latter in a new NFL Mock Draft that CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso suggested. According to Trapasso, the Bears will give up Fields to the Las Vegas Raiders in return for a few first-round selections.
According to the aforementioned plan, Fields is acquired by the Raiders in exchange for the 74th overall pick in the 2024 draft and a 2025 third-round pick that might be upgraded to a second-round selection if Fields plays at least 75 percent of the snaps in
